Troubleshooting

DHL tracking not updating

DHL tracking stuck? Here's why DHL Express and eCommerce scans pause and what to do.

Why it happens

DHL Express updates frequently on the international leg but can go quiet during customs clearance, which may take a few days.

DHL eCommerce (the economy service for online orders) scans less often than Express, so multi-day gaps are normal on cross-border parcels.

What to do

  • Check whether it's DHL Express (fast, frequent scans) or DHL eCommerce (economy, fewer scans) — expectations differ.
  • A status of "Clearance processing" means customs, not a problem; watch for a duty-payment request.

When to escalate

If a DHL parcel stalls well beyond its estimate, contact DHL for your country with the waybill number, or ask the sender to open a trace.
