Troubleshooting

Canada Post tracking not updating

Canada Post tracking not updating? Here's why scans pause and when to file a service ticket.

Why it happens

Canada Post scans at induction, at processing plants and on delivery. Weather, remote destinations and peak-season volume commonly create multi-day gaps.

Inbound international parcels can sit at a processing plant during customs assessment before the next scan.

What to do

  • Check the expected delivery date on the tracking page — it updates even when the last scan is old.
  • Sign up for delivery notifications on the Canada Post site or app.

When to escalate

If a Canada Post parcel shows no movement for 5+ business days past the estimate, submit a service ticket on canadapost.ca with your tracking number.
